Peoples Prosperity Bank to Celebrate Graduates of its Digital Financial Education Program

On May 3, at 9 a.m. in Quincy High School Auditorium, Peoples Prosperity Bank, educators from Quincy High School, and members of the education and business community, will recognize over 370 graduates from the Peoples Prosperity Bank Financial Scholars Program, a web-based financial education course designed to provide students with the critical knowledge and skills needed to make smart financial decisions. Peoples Prosperity Bank has partnered with leading education technology company, EverFi, Inc., to bring this interactive, web-based financial education program to Quincy students at no cost to the school. Since the program’s inception in 2012 the program has reached over 800 students.

Students at Quincy High School will receive certificates for their outstanding work and completion of the program. The event features guest speaker, Dr. Linda Moore, City Treasurer. Dr. Moore, will focus on the importance of financial literacy and highlight her vast experience at St. Louis University, the U.S. Olympics, as Senior Director of Business Operations and Planning at ESPN X Games, and most recently as Treasurer for the City of Quincy.

Administered by principal Jody Steinke and teachers Diana Muldoon, Justin Sievert, and Chris Withiem in a classroom setting, the online course offers over six hours of programming on a variety of financial topics including credit scores, insurance, credit cards, student loans, mortgages, taxes, stocks, savings, 401k’s and other critical concepts that map to national financial literacy standards. The platform uniquely tracks the progress and performance of every user, further helping to set students on a path to financial security and a successful life.

“As educators, our goal is to prepare our students for successful futures,” said Principal Steinke. “The EverFi schools-based financial education program sponsored by Peoples Prosperity Bank provides a solid financial foundation that will allow our students to set goals, work towards their aspirations, and reach their full potential as productive members of society.”

“At Peoples Prosperity Bank, our mission is to empower the well-being of our community one person at a time. As a community bank, we see firsthand the problems young people have if they are not prepared to handle their finances. Quincy High School leadership has championed the program and we are proud to be a part of supporting financial education in our community,” said Jana Hattey, Senior Vice President of Peoples Prosperity Bank.

By partnering with the wonderful teachers whose passion is to enrich the lives of their students, EverFi helps young students gain critical financial skills,” said EverFi Founder and CEO Tom Davidson. “We are striving to create a world with fewer bankruptcies, fewer people defaulting on their student loans, and more people who feel in control of their financial future. Through Peoples Prosperity Bank’s investment in these students, we are one step closer.”
