Five Ways We Monitor Fraud to Protect You

As a community bank, we know our customers. And not just faces and names but also the trends of your account. That way when something suspicious pops up, we’re on it.  But as the digital world continues to expand and more services move online, fraud is expected to grow right along with it.

At Town and Country we take fraud seriously. Here are five tactics we employ each day to keep your money safe:

  • A dedicated team of employees monitor accounts for any unusual activity. High-risk transactions are automatically flagged and immediately investigated. 
  • Front-line staff is thoroughly trained on warning signs and internal processes aimed to reduce fraud. From spotting fake checks to recognizing stolen identity cases, they are often our first line of defense. 
  • A third-party vendor reviews all debit card transactions 24/7. If it appears someone other than our card-holder is attempting a transaction, the card is blocked until we make contact with our customer. 
  • Communication is key when it comes to preventing fraud. When we have questions or concerns regarding your account, we reach out immediately without hesitation. This open line of communication ensures issues are handled in real time. Because when it comes to fraud, the sooner you act, the better. 
  • By educating customers on red flags and the latest scams, they are better equipped to recognize fraudulent activity themselves. Keeping passwords secret and monitoring personal accounts also go a long way in fraud prevention. Town and Country already has your account numbers, PINS and passwords. So be suspicious of any request for this personal information through email or phone.
