Best Free Online Financial Tools and Resources

1/14/2021

SHARE

As a new year has begun, you may be taking stock of your finances and wondering how to improve your situation. Set yourself up for success with these free online financial tools and resources!

Password Managers

As part of your overall approach to password security, a password manager is software that takes the headache out of creating and storing complex, unique login credentials. You don’t have to remember different passwords for every account or risk your security by writing them down. While many password managers require a subscription fee, Keepass is a free, open-source, and easy-to-use password tool.

Financial Calculators

If you don’t already have a budget, take time to understand where your money is going. At its simplest, a budget is a list of income and recurring expenses. Ideally, there will be money left over, which you can allocate to savings as well as non-recurring categories such as travel, gifts, etc.

Your budget is the foundation of your financial life, but it’s also flexible. As your life or income changes, adjust your budget accordingly. And when it comes to making big decisions, such as applying for a new loan or figuring out where to stash your savings, our free financial calculators make it easy to test out a variety of options.

Digital Banking Tools

Streamline your finances and never miss a bill or loan due date with our digital banking tools like online bill pay, account management, mobile banking, and more. It’s never been easier to manage your finances from anywhere, at any time, with online and mobile banking, bill pay, and auto transfers.

Online and Retail Savings Tools

If you shop online often, there are a variety of sites to help you save money. Check out these options for online coupons and other retail savings sites:

Honey: A browser extension that scans for coupons at online retailers and sends you special savings offers. Earn points that can be redeemed for a gift card at your favorite retailer.

Ibotta: A browser extension and mobile app that offers cash back on groceries and more.

Rakuten: A browser extension that offers coupons and cash back on purchases from partner retailers.

Groupon: Online shopping deals and coupons.

Because these sites tend to reward loyalty, it may be best to choose the one you like/works best for you and stick with that.

Credit Score Monitoring

While credit score monitoring won’t necessarily save you money, it can help you keep tabs on your score and take steps to improve it over time. One way improving your credit score can be financially beneficial is you may get lower interest rates on loans, which will save you money over time. The two primary credit score monitoring apps are:

Credit Karma

Credit Sesame

These apps usually do not provide your exact FICO score. For that, you can purchase access or you may be able to get a free FICO score through a credit card account. You can also pull a credit report – at no charge – from Annual Credit Report. It’s important to monitor your credit report annually to ensure proper reporting and to keep an eye out for fraud and identity theft.
