Why You Should Bank Where Your Mortgage Is

11/23/2020

Want to make your life simpler, and possibly, even less expensive? Do all of your banking at the institution that provided you with a mortgage.

There are several advantages to having your home loan and regular bank accounts at the same place:

  • It’s easier. With online banking, you don’t have to mail or take your mortgage payments to the bank. Simply transfer money from your checking or savings account to your loan online. “It’s so convenient,” says Town and Country client, Diana Bomke. “I can just log on and manage our mortgage payment.”
  • It’s safer. During the pandemic, paying your mortgage online from home saves you from going out and risking exposure. It saves you time, too.
  • You might get a better rate. “We have relationship rates at Town and Country Bank and Peoples Prosperity Bank,” says Sarah Nelson, Area Manager for the Bank. “Having your mortgage here allows you to take advantage of our very best rate.”
  • You get one-stop banking. “I like that I can ask a question about any of my accounts at one place, even online,” Bomke says.
  • You get personalized service. “It is so helpful to know the people where you bank. Suppose you need something, or there’s suspicious activity on your account. In that case, our employees will recognize that it’s not your normal banking activity and be the first to spot it and tell you,” says Josie Pucci, Senior Vice President, Director of Production and Origination at Town and Country Bank and Peoples Prosperity Bank. “That’s one thing I love about community banks. We look out for our customers.”

Many customers who have mortgages with Town and Country Bank and Peoples Prosperity Bank end up opening other accounts with us, or vice versa, Pucci says.
